Alexander John Such was an American musician who gained fame as the original bassist for the rock band Bon Jovi. Born on November 14, 1952, in Yonkers, New York, Such began his musical journey playing in local bands before co-founding Bon Jovi in 1983 alongside Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, David Bryan, and Tico Torres. His bass work contributed to the band's early signature sound, appearing on hit albums such as "Bon Jovi" (1984), "7800° Fahrenheit" (1985), "Slippery When Wet" (1986), and "New Jersey" (1988). These records produced iconic tracks like "Livin' on a Prayer," "You Give Love a Bad Name," and "Wanted Dead or Alive," helping the group achieve global stardom. Such performed with Bon Jovi through the 1980s and early 1990s, including the massive "New Jersey Syndicate Tour." He left the band in 1994, citing personal reasons, and was later inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Bon Jovi in 2018. Beyond music, he pursued interests in auto racing and worked as a manager. Alec John Such passed away on June 5, 2022, at the age of 70. His contributions remain a vital part of Bon Jovi's legacy.
