T. K. Kala

T. K. Kala is a versatile Indian artist known for her work as a playback singer, actress, and voice artist, primarily in Tamil and Telugu cinema. Born into a family with artistic roots—her mother, Shanmugasundari, was an actress—Kala grew up immersed in the performing arts. She received formal training in music, which laid the foundation for a career that would span decades.

Kala’s entry into the world of playback singing came through the guidance of veteran filmmaker A. P. Nagarajan. She made her singing debut with the devotional track "Thayir Sirandha Kovilum Illai" from the film *Agathiyar*, a performance that brought her into the limelight. Her voice became a familiar presence in songs featuring child actors, earning her a niche in the industry.

In addition to her singing career, Kala expanded into acting, making her film debut in the 2004 blockbuster *Ghilli*, where she portrayed the mother of the lead actor, Prakash Raj.
