John and Eva delve into the case of a homeless man who succumbed to an overdose. The deceased man's best friend is convinced that foul play was involved. While sifting through the belongings of the victim, John discovers a valuable guitar tucked away in his locker. As they investigate, John reflects on his own past struggles with addiction, recalling how he joined a 12-step program back in 1964 after battling with alcohol abuse on numerous occasions.
