S01E05 Slam Dunk: The Story of Dr. James Naismith!
A peach basket was actually the very first basketball hoop ever used. When Dr. James Naismith invented the game in 1891, he nailed a peach basket to the balcony railing of a gymnasium. Players aimed to toss a soccer ball into it, but because the basket had a closed bottom, someone had to climb a ladder to retrieve the ball after every score. That humble peach basket sparked the evolution into the hoops and nets we see on courts today.
