Martin and Danny find themselves under attack from Emil Dornvald, resulting in the death of the prisoner they were escorting. Martin sustains severe injuries, leaving him in critical condition, while a shaken Danny struggles to cope, desperate to track down the man responsible for Martin’s state. Meanwhile, Jack is busy trying to rein in Danny’s reckless behavior while also pursuing Emil Dornvald, the mercenary who once served General Gamba. Complications arise when Victor Fitzgerald and Tom Banes from Homeland Security enter the scene, intent on negotiating with Nuru, whom Jack suspects is far from the ally Homeland Security thinks he is.
