Trudy encounters Jerrie Cobb, who extends an invitation for her to be part of the inaugural all-female astronaut team. Meanwhile, the Mercury 7 heads to San Diego for a public relations event, but tensions rise when Shepard is spotted by a journalist with a woman who isn’t his wife. Glenn intervenes to suppress the scandal, but his lectures create a rift among the astronauts, ultimately influencing the decision on who will be selected for the pioneering space mission.
