John attempts to persuade Roy that he has tonsillitis. Meanwhile, an ex-girlfriend of Dixie's, now a well-known actor, arrives at Rampart for treatment. Two children find themselves stuck atop a gas tank, and a college lacrosse match spirals into chaos. Boot undergoes surgery to extract a tick, while Dr. Early faces a patient who is a chronic hypochondriac. In the midst of this, Chet gets hurt during a rescue operation and ends up sharing a room with Roy, who is recovering from tonsillectomy.
