During a wild stag party, Charlie Egan, a notorious womanizer and one of the owners of Middleford's exclusive golf club, is discovered lifeless in the swimming pool, handcuffed. As DI Kate Ashurst and DS Emma Scribbins delve into the case, they face pressure from the old boys' network while narrowing down their list of suspects. Among them are Shelley Simon Weaver, a stripper, and Grace Bailey, Charlie's business partner and club manager, who harbored deep feelings for him.
