A devastating computer virus infiltrates the NSA, forcing Jake to collaborate with his arch-nemesis, DuMont. Yet, DuMont harbors his own secret agenda. Simultaneously, under Lou's directives, Jake is consulting with a therapist at the NSA. The therapist reveals to Lou that Jake is grappling with the loss of the "normal" life he can no longer attain due to the nanites within him.
