Paul Rimmer, a bricklayer from Bolton with extensive experience in restoring Victorian terrace houses, aims to create a cutting-edge home within a £350,000 budget. Surprisingly, he decides to construct this new house using wood, rather than the materials he has mastered over the past four decades. Joined by his wife Carol, daughter Abby, and a few trusted colleagues, Paul embarks on the ambitious five-bedroom project. As they progress, Kevin McCloud highlights the challenges they face, including severe weather, fatigue, and rapidly diminishing funds that threaten the success of the entire build.
