S09E04 The Eco Arch, Kent

Kevin McCloud checks in on architect Richard Hawkes and his wife Sophie as they swap London life for the Kent countryside. Their mission: construct a cutting-edge, eco-conscious home designed for self-sufficiency, complete with space to cultivate their own produce. Richard’s vision extends beyond sustainability—he dreams of a dwelling that melts into the landscape, hidden under a sweeping canopy of clay tiles, topped with soil and lush grass, so the building virtually vanishes into the hillside.
