After her boyfriend breaks up with her, Lauren Ackerman, Carly's history teacher, spirals into an emotional turmoil, causing her to lash out at everyone in class, including Carly. During a somewhat awkward parent-teacher meeting, Spencer uncovers her struggles and decides to step in as her unexpected hero, hoping to mend her broken heart. Initially, things seem to improve for Spencer, Miss Ackerman, and the students, but soon Carly, Sam, and Freddie realize that mere affection isn't enough to ensure the teacher's happiness or the safety of their classroom.
