Vanessa auditions for the role of drum major at her school, but Theo teases her about it. Upon hearing from friends that Vanessa is facing sexism, he decides to support her. Meanwhile, Cliff experiments with an outrageously spicy chili recipe, while Russell works to settle a debt with an old acquaintance. Deon Richmond portrays Kenny, and Troy Winbush plays Denny. The episode features a guest appearance by Dub Taylor.
