The rats are back in action as Esterhaus is admitted to the hospital for some tests. Meanwhile, Bates, Coffey, and Joyce work to shield a woman and her children from her violent husband. In another troubling development, the recent police shooting appears to be the work of a hired assassin mimicking a notorious random killer. Additionally, the corruption probe begins to hit close to home on Hill Street, culminating in the shocking news of Marty Nichols' murder.
