Chris encounters Gus and Sarah, a couple tackling the challenge of soaring housing prices by creating their first home as an Earthship—an eco-friendly dwelling constructed from recycled materials like bottles, tires, and even mussel shells for insulation. Young Coromandel residents Gus and Sarah Anning opted for this unconventional route after realizing a traditional home was out of their financial reach. With support from local and international volunteers, they employ innovative building methods originally intended for California's deserts. However, it remains to be seen how this ambitious project will withstand the unpredictable weather of Coromandel.
