Nick finds himself in an uncomfortable encounter with his ex-girlfriend, Caroline. In an effort to ease the tension, Jessica encourages him to consider being friends with her, sharing her own experience by introducing him to her ex, Berkley. At the same time, Coach is determined to make a good impression on his date using Schmidt's loft. However, the situation spirals into chaos when Schmidt unexpectedly comes home with a date of his own, leading to a hilariously awkward clash.
