Time Team
S17E06 Potted History - Mildenhall, Wiltshire
Time Team embarks on an ambitious journey to the heart of Wiltshire to explore a long-lost Roman town. Once a vibrant market hub, Cunetio lies beneath vast fields of wheat and is known for being the site of Britain's largest coin hoard. In the 1970s, a pot with 55,000 Roman coins was unearthed, and Phil Harding from Time Team was among the archaeologists who investigated it. Now, three decades later, he returns to examine this extensive site and uncover the effort needed to bury such a massive quantity of coins. Over three days, the team faces relentless rain and the challenges of sifting through centuries of history, while the geophysics team conducts an unprecedented survey, taking nearly half a million readings.
