Ask This Old House
S05E20 Heat-Tolerant Shrub; Solar Powered Vent
Landscape contractor Roger Cook demonstrates to a homeowner how the brick steps at the front of his house have formed a scorching "micro-climate," which has harmed a nearby shrub. They work together to take out the struggling plant and replace it with a heat-resistant yew. Later, Roger joins host Kevin O'Connor, general contractor Tom Silva, and plumbing and heating specialist Richard Trethewey for a segment of "What is it?" To wrap things up, Tom enhances the attic's ventilation by putting in a solar-powered roof fan.
