Meanwhile, Renzo drifts through Turin’s streets, homeless, until Teresa’s inn offers him a chance at work. Years pass, and a chance encounter with Federica Drigo shatters Gabriele’s calm. She now has a son, Luigi, and harbors a bitter hatred toward Gabriele’s family—a resentment he finds utterly baffling.
