When Martin runs into his childhood tormentor and discovers a possibly contagious illness, he has no choice but to call off the monthly baked bean supper in Port Wenn, much to the townsfolk's frustration. Meanwhile, Louisa notices Mark becoming quite chummy with her teaching assistant. In the midst of all this, Elaine unexpectedly offers Martin her support, stepping in at a crucial moment when he needs it most.
