A homeless veteran from the Gulf War admits to the brutal killing of a polarizing psychiatrist, but Amsterdam has his doubts. As he examines the psychiatrist's upcoming book, he ponders the trustworthiness of memories and why individuals choose to suppress them. Might the psychiatrist's own studies provide insight into his murder? This case also brings Amsterdam a step closer to discovering "the one" he thinks could help him feel emotions and become human. Despite believing the chemistry he feels is genuine, he faces an unforeseen twist.
