Brenda frustrates her father by repeatedly breaking her curfew, leading her to vow that she will act more responsibly. Jim and Cindy decide to allow Brenda to accompany Dylan on a weekend trip to Mexico. However, after falling asleep during a movie at Dylan's place, she doesn't return home until 4 AM. This prompts her parents to prohibit her from going on the trip. Although Dylan urges Brenda to assert herself, she lies to her parents, claiming she’s staying at Kelly’s. When Brenda learns Dylan dated someone else during their summer apart, she distances herself, but they reconcile soon after. However, they face a customs issue when Brenda realizes she has no ID to re-enter the country due to her stolen license, forcing her to call Jim for help. Meanwhile, Jake Hanson, an older friend of Dylan’s, is hired to create a wedding canopy for Jackie, bringing some joy to Kelly, who has been feeling down about the wedding and her new family.
