With the war behind him, Toplis opts to enlist in the Army again, this time using an alias. However, a former comrade from the mutiny spots him, leading Toplis into the world of black market dealings. When a shooting occurs, the blame falls on him, prompting the police to resume their pursuit of Toplis.
