Friedman and his partner Kal Ungar rush to the scene of a burglary in progress, only to be ambushed by a barrage of bullets. Amid the chaos, Friedman manages to neutralize the assailant, but tragically, his partner is hit, sustaining seven gunshot wounds to the chest.
