Deed finds himself presiding over a case involving three drug dealers charged with a brutal gang murder, facing intense pressure from government officials to conduct the trial without a jury. Meanwhile, Jo's bid to adopt Michael is rejected by the Adoption Panel, who believe her demanding legal career makes her unfit to care for a child.
