As Schneider heals from a back injury, he finds himself in need of an assistant maintenance worker to help with tasks around the building. Barbara proposes that he bring on her disabled friend, Jackie. Initially hesitant, Schneider agrees to give Jackie a chance, who is eager to show he can handle the responsibilities. However, when a gas leak occurs in the building, Jackie's skills are truly put to the test, challenging both his abilities and Schneider's trust in him.
