During a vacation, Chief of Detectives Robert Ironside from the San Francisco police is unexpectedly shot by an unidentified attacker, resulting in paralysis from the waist down. Concerned about being forced into retirement, he persuades the authorities to appoint him as a Special Consultant to the Police Commissioner, an old friend. With his dedicated team—detective Ed Brown, officer Eve Whitfield, and reformed juvenile delinquent Mark Sanger—Ironside embarks on a mission to track down the gunman responsible for his condition, determined to seek justice and reclaim his life.
