On September 10, 1882, the Thomas brothers find themselves troubled when Paul Hayden, a wanderer on probation employed by Harris, begins a romantic relationship with their elder sister, Karen. The brothers are protective and wary, concerned about the influence Paul might have on her life. As tensions rise, they must confront their feelings about love, loyalty, and the implications of Karen's new relationship.
