Grylls descends into the French Alps by parachute, equipped only with a knife, a canteen, a cup, and flint, taking the parachute along for use. He showcases techniques for surviving after falling into a frozen lake, constructing a snow shelter, and employing a self-arrest device to prevent falling into a crevasse. He even consumes maggots, using them as bait to catch trout. Additionally, he undertakes a Tyrolean traverse and crafts a pair of snowshoes from young trees and parachute cords.
