On January 8, 2003, Air Midwest Flight 5481 tragically crashes into a hangar at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport just moments after departing for Greenville. All 21 individuals aboard perished, while one ground worker sustained injuries. Subsequent investigations revealed that improper adjustments to the pilots' controls during maintenance were a major factor, alongside the aircraft being overloaded because of an outdated method for calculating passenger weights.
