In last week's episode, Heston Blumenthal embarked on a quest to find the ultimate chilli con carne. He mingled with participants at a chilli cook-off in Washington DC before returning to Bray to experiment with various dried chillies, including the fiery Somalian hot and devil's penis varieties, as he crafted his own unique spice mix. Heston even took one of his chefs for an MRI scan to explore the effects of consuming chilli oil that was nine times more potent than any regular chilli. His final creation featured whiskey, beef short ribs, and a distinctive array of spices, served alongside a refreshing sour cream sorbet and a sweetcorn muffin.
