Chaos erupts in the emergency room when a mentally unstable patient starts firing a gun, leading to a tense shootout with law enforcement. Tragically, she is shot by a police officer and later succumbs to her injuries. Benton later learns that her dementia stemmed from complications related to a surgery he performed, an oversight he and Cleo failed to notice. Meanwhile, Carter finds himself drawn to a charming intern, adding a lighter note to the otherwise intense atmosphere.
