As part of a family ritual, Jack and Uncle Pete head to the cemetery to honor their father's grave, where they are unexpectedly joined by their brother Ted. Meanwhile, Bandstand producer Michael Brooks is impressed by Meg's musical expertise and recruits her for an upcoming special. However, when Meg is called to the cemetery, she asks Roxanne to take her place, giving her friend a chance to connect with her latest crush. In another storyline, JJ receives troubling updates about his broken leg from the doctor. Helen steps up to assist with voter registration for the upcoming election alongside Professor Witt, while Sam chooses to attend a local rally with his cousin Nathan.
