Shirley anxiously waits for Laverne to return from the bank with their savings for their long-awaited cruise. When Laverne finally arrives, she reveals that they are short $50 and can no longer afford the trip, especially with just two days before departure. Both girls feel disheartened, but Laverne encourages them to stay hopeful and come up with a plan to raise the money. They decide to approach Carmine, who helps them land a job at J&J Shoes. He convinces the owner to hire them in exchange for bringing his tap dance students to buy shoes. Once hired, the girls return in their quirky uniforms, with Shirley as Jack and Laverne as Jill, ready to earn $2 for each pair of shoes sold.
