S01E07 Are We Not Friends?

Gwen spirals into depression after the Mayor invites her to present the Humanitarian of the Year Award—she dreads facing old friends and confessing her unemployment and poverty. Ashley's also stressed, fearing his dress won't be finished for the tri-state "Hello Dolly" competition. It dawns on Gwen that Ashley is Guy's son. Terry pushes her to attend the gala and grudgingly agrees to sew her a new gown. Gwen fails to get Danny as her escort and ends up with Guy. When he comes to collect her, she immediately tears her dress on the loft's heavy door. Quick-thinking Guy refashions one of Ashley's dresses, and Gwen makes it to the gala looking stunning. There, her snooty friends probe about her outfit and companion. Gwen claims she's wearing a Terry Reynolds original and introduces Guy as a Spanish count. Guy shocks her by answering in fluent Spanish.
