When police link an eagle tattoo on a man who was shot during an armored truck robbery to a militia group, McCoy ends up in a courtroom showdown against one of the militia members. Representing his friends, he argues for "jury nullification," a legal principle that allows jurors to acquit a defendant if they believe the law is unjust, even if the evidence points to guilt.
