Stardate: 43989.1. Lt. Cmdr. Shelby, a Starfleet authority on the Borg, joins the Enterprise to probe the vanishing of a Federation settlement. During the investigation, Picard is captured by the Borg and integrated into their Collective. This unexpected turn of events compels Riker to mount a daring rescue operation to save his captain from the clutches of the enemy.
