A woman mistakenly identifies Sarah as her daughter, prompting Sarah to seek out her biological mother. After finding her name on a list, Bailey secretly contacts the woman and meets her. She turns out to be an actress who expresses her disinterest in meeting Sarah, leading Bailey to break the disappointing news to Sarah that this woman isn’t her mother, shattering her hopes. Meanwhile, Charlie attempts to teach Owen how to use the potty ahead of preschool. Claudia is taken aback to learn that Kristen is in a relationship and tries to persuade her to return to the family, but Kristen insists she needs to move on. Justin's friend Allison visits from England, stirring up jealousy in Julia at first, but they soon bond. When Allison makes a pass at Julia, she opens up about her own struggles, and Julia encourages Allison to confront her issues rather than escape them.
