Victory at Sea
S01E19 BATTLE FOR LEYTE GULF: Sea battle for Leyte Gulf
As the Japanese fleet quickly dwindles, the Imperial Navy embarks on its final significant mission in the Philippines. The operation proves disastrous: the battleships from Pearl Harbor retaliate for the Surigao Strait assault, while the Center Force suffers defeat in the Sibuyan Sea. Meanwhile, jeep carriers and destroyers valiantly resist a more powerful Japanese squadron near Samar, and the remaining aircraft carriers are tragically lost. This segment of Victory at Sea signals the beginning of the end, counting down the days until Japan ultimately concedes defeat and surrenders to the Allies.
