Struck down by the flu, Amy faintly manages to oversee a custody hearing for a cow before collapsing in court. Meanwhile, old emotions surface between Gillian and Peter as Evie proposes returning Ned. Amy's heavy workload unexpectedly impacts her temporary replacement. After Sean grounds Maxine for taking wannabe gang members on an unauthorized field trip to the local I.C.U., which angers their parents, she decides against requesting time off to accompany Jared on a business trip to China. Carole receives a job offer in San Francisco and invites Vincent to join her. As Jared's plane goes missing, Sean stands by Maxine, and the Gray family celebrates when both Ned and Jared are safely returned.
