Kingsfield, representing the school in this matter, finds himself confronted by Hart, who is determined to save Ernie's, where he works. After struggling to find a lawyer willing to take the case, Hart appeals to Kingsfield's nostalgia, mentioning a table with his initials from his law school days in the 1930s. This triggers a memory, leading Kingsfield to visit Ernie's, where he unexpectedly reunites with the original owner, Ernie, Sr., and they share fond memories.
