Michael embarks on an adventure from Manhattan, guided by his Appleton's Guide, as he rides the Long Island Railroad. His journey begins in Brooklyn, where he discovers the fascinating history of the world's first steel suspension bridge. Faced with a language barrier, he has a tough time ordering a pizza before heading to Queens, where he explores an ambitious engineering project set to revolutionize New York City's rail system. Traveling further east through Long Island, he visits an opulent mansion owned by an oil magnate dubbed Mr. Monopoly, where he hilariously fumbles through the Charleston dance, and finally reaches New York's first lighthouse at the eastern tip of Long Island.
