Thorfinn faces off against Askeladd, with Canute and Thorkell observing the tense duel. Yet, Thorfinn finds himself paralyzed, unable to attack as he is engulfed by the intense atmosphere surrounding Askeladd following Bjorn's exit. Sensing Thorfinn's uncertainty, Askeladd drops his sword and challenges him to a brawl without weapons, igniting a blaze of rage within Thorfinn.
