On June 27, 1980, Aerolinee Itavia Flight 870 tragically plunges into the Tyrrhenian Sea close to Ustica, Italy, resulting in the loss of all 81 lives aboard. In a significant ruling on January 23, 2013, Italy’s highest criminal court determined that a missile strike was responsible for the disaster. However, this conclusion has sparked ongoing debate, with some analysts asserting that an explosion from a bomb located in the rear lavatory could have been the actual cause. To date, no conclusive accident report has been released.
