S02E17 A Matter of Communication
The girls are frustrated by the absence of a telephone at their hotel, leaving them feeling isolated from their friends. Kate reveals that installing a phone line would set them back $800 for the two-mile stretch needed. With calls being redirected to Drucker's Store, it's causing chaos for him, and Sam decides to stop handling their calls. In response, Uncle Joe schemes to launch his own phone service, intending to utilize the barbed wire fences of local farms as communication lines. He also considers tapping into the Hooterville Telephone Company’s line, but Sam intervenes. Joe then devises an overly complex plan, which quickly unravels.
