In a laboratory run by an oil company, a malfunction in the air conditioning leads to a violent encounter between a scientist and a strange primate creature. This bizarre being, along with others, starts wreaking havoc across Chicago. The chaos stems from the company’s experiments with cell samples retrieved from Antarctica, which rapidly grew when exposed to warmth. As the government attempts to conceal the situation, Kolchak takes it upon himself to delve deeper, ultimately tracing the creatures back to their hideout beneath the remnants of outdated nuclear research facilities from the 1950s.
