Handcrafted America
S03E13 Wristwatches, Cowboy Whips, Luminarias
Jill Wagner embarks on a journey across the nation to discover skilled artisans who create remarkable handmade items. In Philadelphia, she meets watchmaker Roland Murphy, who crafts over 90% of his watch components himself rather than merely assembling them. Next, in Otis Orchard, Idaho, Jill teams up with Joe Strain, a whip maker known for producing bullwhips that are used globally and even featured in films like Indiana Jones. Her final destination is Edgewater, Maryland, where former boat builder Allen Cady employs his woodworking expertise to turn a unique stash of heart of pine lumber into stunning luminaries.
