S01E02 The Story Girl Earns Her Name

Content to remain at Rose Cottage with her aunts Hetty and Olivia, Sara befriends Jasper Dale, known as "The Awkward Man" of Avonlea. Meanwhile, the school board plans a "magic lantern" show to raise money for the library fund. Unfortunately, the man they hire turns out to be a con artist, and Sara unwittingly assists him in making off with the cash. Determined to recover the lost funds, she enlists the help of the timid Jasper, who has his own magic lantern. During the event, Sara delivers a moving performance of "The Little Match Girl," earning her the title of "The Story Girl" in Avonlea.
