S25E03 Nothing is as Easy as it Looks - The Concord Cottage

2003-10-25

Kevin arrives to discover the newly approved building permit displayed on the site, signaling the start of construction. Holly is officially part of the team, and Kevin stops by her office to review the initial designs, including floor plans, elevations, and a scale model of the cottage. Due to zoning restrictions, the one-bedroom cottage will be under 1,000 square feet. Norm and Tom tackle a warped wall but uncover a severely decayed sill that requires replacement before they can continue. They enlist Kevin's help to erect two temporary walls, relieving the pressure from the damaged exterior. After removing the old sill, they install a new, pressure-treated one. Later, Kevin explores a renovated carriage house in Winchester, Massachusetts, gathering inspiration for the project. However, unexpected rain halts the excavation for the new addition's foundation.
