The Tunnel
S30E08 Weston; Closing Up the House
Three weeks into the construction of the new home in Weston, Massachusetts, the building envelope is nearing completion. The Bensonwood team installs the final roof panels and carefully positions the hefty five-thousand-pound cupola to top off the structure. Crafted from over fifty unique structural insulated panels, the roof panels are assembled in the Bensonwood workshop. Meanwhile, crews are busy applying shingles and a standing seam copper roof to the cupola before it is lifted into place. A key element of the energy-efficient design is the new windows, which general contractor Tom Silva demonstrates how to properly flash and install at the Bensonwood facility in New Hampshire.
